Team lock ยท Manual edits

A locked team can still change when you move a player

Published:

Check the lock's scope. In our RandomWheel rehearsal, locking a card preserved it during Reshuffle but still allowed a member to be moved out manually. The next reshuffle kept the edited two-person card. It did not restore the earlier three-person lineup.

On November 5, 2026, we used nine invented labels, L01 Aster through L09 Iris, and selected three teams in RandomWheel. We kept the numbered team names, chose no roles and added no together/apart rules or stars. This was a browser rehearsal with synthetic labels, not a class or match.

What stayed fixed during the first reshuffle?

Our initial Team 1 contained L06 Fern, L01 Aster and L02 Birch. We locked that card and pressed Reshuffle. All three remained on Team 1. The other cards changed: L09 Iris moved from Team 3 to Team 2, while L04 Dune moved the other way. Team sizes were still three, three and three.

Could a person still leave the locked card?

We used Undo to return to the earlier grouping before the next check. Team 1's lock remained on. From L06 Fern's move menu, we selected Team 2. Fern appeared on Team 2, leaving Aster and Birch on Team 1. Its padlock stayed closed. The locked card contained two members; Team 2 had four and Team 3 had three.

The edited card stayed at two. We pressed Reshuffle with that card still locked. Aster and Birch remained on Team 1, and Fern appeared on Team 3. Team 2 contained Grove, Elm, Dune and Iris. The nine input labels were unchanged, and the team sizes were two, four and three.

These observations cover one tool version and one synthetic run. They do not show that every lock behaves this way, or that every unlocked member must change teams on every reshuffle. Permissions, saved accounts and concurrent editing were not tested. Our selected observation transcript records the actual member lists and lock states, not an export produced by the generator.

What should you check before using the lineup?

Does the lock prohibit direct edits? A control described as protecting a team during reshuffling need not do so. After moving anyone, inspect the locked card again before generating or sharing another result. Check its current members and size against the lineup you intended to preserve. Need three people? Check the actual count.

The basic lock features are already documented. RandomWheel describes whole-card protection during reshuffling. RandomTopics describes locking individual people while others are re-dealt. Our evidence is the recorded manual-move and reshuffle sequence.

Random Team Split's grouping tools do not provide team locks. This page does not add that capability. Our move-or-swap guide addresses exchanging two members while leaving others in place; our keep-together check concerns accepted rules before a draw. Here the question is what an existing lock protects after a lineup has already been edited.

Observed locked Team1 has three members after reshuffling, two after a direct move, and still two after reshuffling again.
Actual synthetic-label rehearsal, November 5, 2026. The lock remained on while the card changed.
